Examples cited during the meeting included removal of an old crosswalk marking and external site adjustments to fit adjacent athletic fields; staff said the project remains under the original contingency total by roughly $70,000 after this change order.
Council members asked whether five change orders is typical for a project of this size; staff and the city engineer characterized change orders as normal on projects of this scale and said some earlier change orders were scope improvements approved during construction, including kitchen upgrades and additional park amenities such as retractable volleyball nets.
The motion to approve Change Order No. 5 for $16,724.90 was moved and seconded and passed unanimously.
