LaSalle County License Committee members met July 1, 2025, and reviewed local liquor and event license renewals, discussed a new liquor license for Gunny's Tap LLC in Oglesby and several one-day and raffle permits for local organizations.
The discussion centered on license renewals that expired June 30 and a new liquor license for Gunny's Tap LLC, which is operating in a building owned by the Marine Corps in Oglesby and is being leased to the operator. Amanda, a county licensing staff member, told the committee the applicant was not present because “her bridal slash freezer broke down,” and said the operator had completed required paperwork and was open for business.
The committee was told most license holders submitted renewals on time; two were outstanding. Amanda said Country Ranch submitted an application but had not paid the renewal fee, and Lake Holiday Marina in Sammanac had not returned any paperwork. Committee members asked staff to follow up: Amanda said she would mail a replacement license to a licensee who reported not receiving theirs and would share contact information for the Country Ranch applicant so the committee could pursue payment.
The committee also reviewed routine event permits. Members heard a request for a one-day event license for Cedar Point Sportsman Club’s annual pork chop dinner and learned that Woodsmoke Ranch holds a year-round raffle license and occasionally requests one-day event permits for festivals or food trucks. Amanda confirmed she has copies of the relevant applications and will provide contact details and follow up with businesses that have not completed renewals.
No formal action on liquor or event licenses was recorded in the meeting minutes beyond staff follow-up; the only formal committee votes taken during the session were to approve prior meeting minutes and to adjourn.
Committee members who spoke during the discussion included Miss Bernal, Miss Bush, Miss Nikki, Mr. Traeger, Mr. Rhodes and Jess Johnson; Amanda represented county licensing staff. The committee did not vote on the Gunny's Tap license at the meeting because the applicant was not present to make a presentation.
