Resident urges priority repairs on Rock Springs Road stretch in Gwynne Farms area

Smyrna — In the public-comment portion of the July 1 meeting, new resident Glenn Cotant asked the Planning Commission to prioritize improvements on a stretch of Rock Springs Road between Dale Drive and Potts Crossing, citing potholes, faded lane markings and an eroded curve edge.
Cotant, who said he lives in the Gwynne Farms development, told commissioners he has driven the segment for a year and that neighbors regularly discuss how “stressful, if not unsafe” that portion of Rock Springs Road can be. He referenced the town’s mobility plan and pointed out that improvements to nearby stretches already appear on the plan.
Cotant described recurring potholes on both sides of the road, areas with faded paint where lane markings have nearly disappeared, and an eroded outside edge on a curve that he said “restricts the lane usage” and creates a sideswipe risk. He asked the commission to prioritize the improvements for the segment he highlighted.
The commission did not take a formal vote on the request during the meeting; Cotant was advised that public-comments items are for input to the town and that additional comments can be submitted in writing. Staff or the appropriate department will review the request and routing for repair work as part of regular maintenance and capital project planning.
