Rockingham County’s facilities staff provided multiple project updates July 3, telling commissioners the Grama C filtration project will complete training next week and that operations can be run more autonomously once staff training finishes.
The board approved a $21,462.20 purchase to install three floating aeration units in wastewater lagoons (VOCA Water Technologies) to improve lagoon performance; staff said the bid waiver and purchase are recommended by facilities.
Facilities staff also reported an emergency main breaker for the nursing home has arrived and a scheduled cutover will occur on July 23 with planned short shutdowns while the generator tie-in is completed. An emergency generator delivery and load testing were also scheduled with final inspections pending.
The meeting included updates on a precast concrete building delivered for Well No. 4 and that the well pump installation is scheduled for August. Staff noted required permits were in place and that temporary wireless fire alarm monitoring had been accepted by the fire marshal and tested successfully.
Facilities staff said they are preparing for a physical move of offices and assets to a new county building: they have photographed and inventoried equipment and will issue a moving RFP; the county attorney is reviewing county-owned items to determine what should move and what is surplus. Staff also described a billing reconciliation with a prior vendor (Glendale/Woodson) where the county believes some items were double-billed and is awaiting vendor invoice documentation to reconcile ownership and payments.
No new policy changes were made; commissioners asked staff to proceed with scheduled cutovers and to continue the equipment inventory and reconciliation work.
