CPUC utilities roll out limited-generation profiles, update ICA portals

The utilities emphasized the work is incremental and that further platform changes are on a multi‑quarter timeline. ‘‘The ICA quantifies the maximum amount of power that can be injected to or drawn from the distribution system while requiring minimal to no distribution mitigations, upgrades, or operational restrictions,’’ Audrey Newman, energy advisor and interim deputy chief of staff to Commissioner Haug, said in opening remarks for the CPUC.
Why it matters: LGP templates and clearer portal downloads are intended to help customers prepare interconnection applications under Rule 21 by supplying a machine‑readable, utility‑provided maximum export or import profile tied to the ICA results. SCE, PG&E and SDG&E said the new downloads will be integrated into their portals so customers can retrieve LGP CSV templates for specific line segments.
Key points from each utility: - Southern California Edison said its Doctor Pepp portal will make LGP templates available and that the company expects the capability to be visible to customers “effectively on June 30,” and to follow the formats described in the IDR decision and Resolution E5230. SCE product lead Assad Pucks said users will be able to click a downloadable tab and get a prepopulated spreadsheet to use when preparing an LGP application. - PG&E reported a recent portal release that added LGP hourly data and charting to its Grid Resource Integration Portal and plans further UI and API improvements through the year; product manager Julia Anderson said the team had just pushed a major release for LGP and “the limited generation profile data is now available for access through the map interface on the data portal.” - SDG&E said customers will be able to download LGP templates for a selected ICA segment in its portal starting next month and that user guidance will be updated to show where to find the files.
