The Oceanside Union Free School District Board of Education approved a group of professional personnel recommendations at its June meeting, including the appointment of Jarratt Rubin as associate principal at Oceanside High School.
Superintendent Phyllis Harrington presented an addendum recommending the hire of Jarratt Rubin; the board voted to approve the appointment. The board also accepted the retirement of longtime elementary teacher Amy Simon (effective December, per the administration) and acknowledged the resignation of high school dean Luke Gackstetter, who is leaving for an assistant-principal position in another district.
The board approved multiple employment recommendations across categories: professional personnel, civil service, hourly employees, summer school staff, DASA (harassment) personnel, and high‑school and middle‑school fall and winter coaching rosters for 2025-26. The board also approved appointments for several coordinators and district roles (records management officer, purchasing agent, privacy officer and others) and accepted an addendum naming district personnel where noted.
The superintendent and board recognized new hires in the audience and thanked departing staff. The board noted summer programming — including district summer school and DACA summer programs starting July 7 — and approved staffing so programs can begin.
Ending: Personnel motions passed by unanimous “Aye” responses in the meeting; administration will complete required paperwork and onboarding for approved hires and will post related personnel actions in district records.
