Alderman Weber reported that the commission agreed to remove the playground equipment now and revisit replacement options during the next budget cycle. Weber said commissioners also discussed the Carbonate Reserve master plan and parking-lot placement, noting the plan is fluid and will evolve as the commission reviews public concerns.
The Parks and Recreation Commission voted to accept the placement of the Davy Crockett statue in Riverside Park; the council received the report and no separate council action was recorded. Director Kiser advised park access during ongoing construction at Douglas Park: park users should park on Henry Street near Douglas and use the path into the park to avoid the construction area.
