The Lucas County Board of Commissioners on June 2 accepted two grants for Sheriff's Office programs totaling $97,416.37 to support body-worn camera capacity and domestic-violence services.
Bridal Sudler of the Sheriff's Office presented the items. The county will accept a fiscal year 2025 body-worn camera grant from the Ohio Department of Public Safety in the amount of $63,146.40 for the project period July 1, 2024, through June 30, 2026. The funds will cover a partial salary for a body-worn compliance and transparency officer and assist in purchasing additional body-worn cameras.
The board also accepted a fiscal year 2024 Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) grant of $34,269.97 to fund salary and fringe benefits for an integrated investigations officer who runs the domestic violence advocate act. The VAWA award period was presented as January 1, 2025, through December 30, 2025.
Commissioners moved and approved both grant acceptances by unanimous roll call. No public comment or further amendments to the grants were recorded at the meeting.
