The Wheeling City Council on July 1 amended the city ordinance governing private outdoor designated areas to change the Friday start time to 10 a.m.
A council member said several businesses had requested the change because the ordinance as written would have required a 12 p.m. start on Fridays, causing missed opportunities. The council member offered an amendment to set Friday hours to start at 10 a.m. “So I'm gonna amend I've offered an amendment to, change it to 10AM start time for Friday,” the council member said during discussion.
The amendment was moved, seconded and recorded as approved. The council clerk recorded the vote and the motion passed.
What this changes: The ordinance now matches Friday start times with the Saturday and Sunday schedule the council adopted, creating consistent weekend hours for private outdoor designated areas in the city.
Implementation: The amended ordinance will take effect according to the city's normal ordinance enactment procedures; staff did not state a separate effective date during the July 1 discussion.
