Police report: bus patrol data shared; two candidates remain for two full-time positions

The police chief provided council with a bus patrol report covering Clifton Heights and surrounding areas in the school district and said the report lists locations with higher and lower violation rates but does not include total fine revenue.

"I will have a written report by the council, but tonight I did put in your packets the, bus patrol report for the year," the police chief said. He added that "It does not have, a total of revenue, taken in as a result of fines because, obviously, people are gonna, ask appeal those fines." The chief said a full-time test was held last week and that he expects to have candidates ready for consideration by council "If not this council meeting, then certainly by, the August."

On the recruitment drive, the chief reported: "Yeah. I had 5 applications. 1 withdrew, 1 was no show, and 1 failed physical agility. So we have 2 candidates for 2 positions." He said those candidates are for two full-time positions but did not provide names.

During board reports, council member Mister Brennan praised recent traffic enforcement near neighborhood intersections and thanked officers: "I've noticed traffic enforcement happening at Springfield and Oak and on Windcliff the last several days. So, that's always good to see because with the kids being out and, having people there to enforce, traffic issues is helpful." The meeting transcript included no formal personnel vote or hire during the session; the chief said finalists would be brought to a regular council meeting for formal consideration.
