St. Lucie County commissioners on July 1 adopted Resolution No. 25-126, proclaiming July 2025 as Treasure Coast Waterway Cleanup Week in St. Lucie County.
The proclamation, introduced by county staff, recognizes the Marine Industries Association of the Treasure Coast in partnership with the Florida Inland Navigation District and local sponsors. April Price, event coordinator and executive director for the Marine Industries Association of Florida, presented on behalf of organizers; Price said Tessa Roberts of St. Lucie County could not attend and that several partner organizations (Harbor Branch at FAU and Coastal Conservation Association) were supporting the event.
The 18th annual Treasure Coast Waterway Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Price said more than 1,100 volunteers will work across 25 designated sites in Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties; volunteers and homeowners associations will participate. Since the effort began, organizers say volunteers have removed over 100 tons of trash from about 125 miles of waterways along the Treasure Coast. The board approved the proclamation by motion.
