The Village of Westmont Board of Trustees on June 26 voted to accept the village’s annual comprehensive financial report covering the eight‑month stub period ending Dec. 31, 2024; Sikich partner Nick Bava told trustees the firm issued an unmodified (clean) opinion on the financial statements.
Finance Director Alan Altek said the eight‑month audit results reflect the village’s transition from an April 30 fiscal year end to a Dec. 31 year end; the report covers May 2024 through Dec. 31, 2024. Altek said the village prepares an annual comprehensive financial report that exceeds the state’s minimum reporting requirements and that the finance team includes four staff with CPA designations. The village received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) certificate of achievement for its prior report and staff said they will submit the current report for the award the following week.
Bava said Sikich issued an unmodified opinion, the highest level of assurance, and performed additional compliance testing because the village spent $638,000 in state and federal grant dollars during the stub period — a level that triggered grant compliance procedures. Sikich reported no instances of noncompliance or questioned costs from that testing. Trustee Little moved to accept the report; Trustee Guzzo seconded; the board approved the acceptance by roll call with all trustees voting yes.
