Westmont board waives temporary liquor fee for Vision and Vibe Fest

The Village of Westmont Board of Trustees on June 26 approved an ordinance waiving the temporary liquor license fee to allow Tarazi to serve wine at the Vision and Vibe Festival in September during the hours of 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both days, Village Manager Gunther said.

The vote removes the fee barrier for an alcohol vendor at a new two-day arts festival the village and volunteers are organizing at Veterans Memorial Park. Supporters said the waiver helps attract vendors and attendees and aligns with the village’s efforts to promote events that draw visitors and support local businesses.

Manager Gunther told trustees the waiver request covers wine service by Tarazi for both days of the festival from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Trustee Johanna Plowman moved to approve the ordinance; Trustee Little seconded. The board approved the measure by roll call, with all trustees voting yes.

Trustee Barker and others earlier described Vision and Vibe as a new arts festival planned for Veterans Memorial Park that will offer exhibition space at no cost to selected artists. Trustee Barker provided a staff contact, Jenny Babiar (staff@jbabiaratwestmont.il.gov), for artists and volunteers. The manager and trustees said additional event details and a public notice will be posted on village websites once finalized.

The waiver applies only to the temporary liquor license fee for the festival and does not change other permit or safety requirements vendors must meet. The village confirmed the event will be coordinated with park district partners and that specific hours and vendor approvals remain subject to standard permitting and operational rules.
