Superintendent Christine Ackerman described two contract items highlighted in her report: a planned guard‑house resolution (described separately) and a recommendation to renew a contract with consultant Ellen Doherty, who provides executive coaching to administrative staff and supports work tied to the district’s equity audit and strategic plan. Ackerman said Doherty has worked with administrators on retention, stress management, bereavement support and conflict management and that the administrator association president had provided a letter supporting continued access to that service.
District staff explained the Aramark renewal in the context of statewide free lunches: "We are participants in the National School Lunch Program, and our contract with Aramark has always adhered to the National School Lunch Program. The free lunch act from the state requires a school to be part of that, which we already are," a district presenter said. The presenter added: "Aramark will record that. They'll do the paperwork for it, send it up monthly to the state, and then we'll receive the reimbursement. Aramark will bill us about a month behind for the food. The same time we'll get the reimbursement so there won't be any lag time with what the district is paying for the school lunches… But if the child wants a snack or another item, parents pay for that." The board moved and adopted the consent agenda items covering the contracts by voice vote. The consent agenda also included routine vendor renewals, bus contracts, professional services and other rollover agreements listed in the board packet. The transcript records no public comment on these items during the public comment period.
Parents who want students to purchase snacks or à‑la‑carte items still need to maintain funds in their child’s lunch account, the presenter said. The district indicated that administrative procedures for invoicing and reimbursement will follow existing practices used during prior universal‑free lunch periods.
