Commission approves lease for boom mower; approval made contingent on warranty confirmation

Commissioner White said he wanted warranty information for the unit because it would be used in rough conditions. "That is a piece of equipment that's probably gonna get beat up on pretty bad. So that's why I was asking on the warranty part of it," White said.
Public-works staff and other commissioners said the county had not owned this type of machine previously and that leasing the first unit would allow crews to test durability and performance before committing to a purchase. Commissioner Hale said leasing first made sense given uncertainty about long-term suitability.
County Attorney Morrison suggested the board could approve the acquisition contingent on Commissioner White's comfort with warranty terms and asked that White send a written confirmation when satisfied. Commissioners approved the lease motion 5-0 with that contingency.
Implementation directions: staff will verify warranty coverage and terms and incorporate Commissioner White's emailed approval into the public record, then finalize the lease. Staff said they would follow up on warranty coverage and report if purchase (rather than lease) becomes appropriate after operational use.
