At the June 18 meeting, district administrators provided an end-of-year update on progress toward the Hendrick Hudson strategic plan and solicited board input to inform goals for 2025–26.
The presenter described ongoing work across four strategic pillars including student engagement, communication, multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), and operations. "We will remain committed to MTSS as a consistent goal and initiative," the administrator said, and added that teams are meeting regularly, using tools such as Branching Minds and LinkIt to guide interventions.
Board members and administrators discussed community outreach and communications as a major area for continued focus. Several trustees said they want clearer, consolidated communication for families (for example, a monthly "one-stop" summary or "Hand-in-Happens" bulletin) and better ways to measure engagement across platforms such as ParentSquare and Schoology. Trustees raised concerns about the number of platforms families and students must navigate and asked administration to examine usage metrics and to pursue student-informed approaches to outreach.
Technology and curriculum topics also featured in the conversation. District staff said Schoology (a learning management system) is used at the high school level as part of a plan to prepare students for college/work platforms; administration noted plans for more training and potential transition activities for incoming ninth-graders. The district said an annual online parent consent/FERPA form will be required in Canvas in August to manage family acknowledgements and access to schedules.
Administrators asked board members to complete a brief reflection form to capture observations about goal progress and suggestions for next year; the administration said it will use board input, stakeholder feedback and an administrative retreat to draft goals for 2025–26. The district's shared-goals tracking sheet will be updated and made available on the district website.
The board's discussion emphasized continuing and refining community engagement, improving communications clarity and expanding real-world student experiences; administrators said those priorities will be considered during goal-setting activities over the summer.
