The Hendrick Hudson Board of Education on June 18 appointed Dr. William Xavier Toro as principal of Blue Mountain Middle School.
"It is an honor and it is a humbling experience to be your next principal at Blue Mountain," Dr. Toro said after his appointment was announced, thanking the board, district staff, and his family for the welcome. He told the board he was "truly excited and honored, and I can't wait to start the work."
The appointment was made under the consent-agenda personnel section after the board pulled several items for discussion; the motion to appoint Dr. Toro was moved and seconded during the meeting and approved by the board. The district noted Dr. Toro will join the district immediately and will take part in transition and orientation activities with staff.
Board members and administrators emphasized his record of educational leadership and the role the principal plays in supporting student growth, staff collaboration and community engagement. The board requested Dr. Toro come forward to say a few words and to be publicly recognized; family members joined him at the meeting.
The appointment will be recorded in personnel actions for the 2025–26 school year and the district expects to announce start-date and onboarding details through the personnel office.
