The Village of Riverwoods provided details on upcoming work for Saunders Road and the 2025 road program, including neighborhood outreach, construction observation plans and a proposed change order to restripe Port Wynd Road after crack control work.
Director of Community Services Witt told trustees that a neighborhood meeting on Saunders Road was held the previous Wednesday; notices were mailed to about 100 property owners within 300 feet and 17 residents attended. Witt said display boards showed the full project extent from Riverwoods to Duffy and that attendees had many questions about the project time frame and property impacts.
Witt said Thomas Engineering has been engaged for construction observation and will be the on‑site point of contact supported by GHA and village staff. He estimated the project would likely begin in August once the contractor is confirmed and the preconstruction meeting identifies daily contacts.
On the 2025 road program, Witt said Chicagoland Paving was awarded the contract and would begin patching work immediately; by Thursday the patchwork — including two Village Hall parking lots — should be complete. He asked residents planning to use Village Hall Thursday morning to use the north lot because of South Lot work.
Witt described a planned full cut and patch to remove two persistent pavement depressions in the south lot and said the village aims to perform crack control, seal coating and restriping later this year. He warned that crack control done down the center of Port Wynd Road will cover most double yellow lines and proposed bringing a change order at the next board meeting to pay to restripe Port Wynd the full length now rather than waiting a year.
Trustees asked operational questions. Trustee Jamerson asked whether nearby golf courses had been contacted; Witt said the contract had been signed the morning of the meeting and a preconstruction meeting will set schedules and notifications so the village can coordinate to avoid closing both access drives to a course at once. Trustee Jamerson and other trustees discussed stripe colors and police department requests for double center striping on Saunders Road.
Witt said the village intends to provide regular updates on the project page of the village website and to hand‑deliver notices for major lane closures or minute‑by‑minute impacts. No change order was approved at the meeting; Witt said he would bring a formal change‑order request to the board at the next meeting for consideration.
