Council approves new resort liquor license for Hyatt Place; license inactive until October opening

Casper City Council on July 1 approved a new resort liquor license for the Hyatt Place hotel; city staff said the license will remain inactive until the hotel opens in October.
Casper City Council approved July 1 a new resort liquor license for the Hyatt Place Casper (JJMHYT C P R Hospitality LLC d/b/a Hyatt Place Casper) at 407 North Walsh. Acting City Manager Jay Carter Napier told the council the license will be nonoperational until the hotel opens, currently scheduled for October.
There were no public comments in opposition during the hearing. Council noted the hotel’s meeting space capacity was reviewed during staff checks; one councilor asked staff to confirm that the meeting room capacity meets statutory requirements for a resort license. A representative in the audience said the meeting space maximum capacity is about 150 and that additional tours were being scheduled for council or staff.
The council moved and seconded approval and recorded the vote with Councilor Pollock abstaining and all other councilors voting aye. Staff will complete the final licensing steps and activate the license when the property opens and meets required inspections.
