Mayor proclaims Disability Pride Month; Kindring thanks city for early‑childhood services

Mayor Karen Howe read a proclamation declaring July 2025 Disability Pride Month in the City of Sammamish and invited Kindring, a local nonprofit, to accept the recognition.
The proclamation text cited the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (July 26, 1990), noted that about 20 percent of King County adults live with a disability, and described the city’s support for inclusion. Mayor Howe said the council “encourage[s] all of residents to join me in this observance.”
Jill Clacy, Family and Community Engagement Specialist at Kindring, accepted the proclamation and thanked the city. Clacy said the nonprofit provides early support, pediatric therapies, parent education and inclusive preschool services and told council, “Last year we served over 160 young children from the city of Sammamish.” She added that the proclamation “sends a clear message to our families that you care about their kids now, and you will care about them as adults.”
Councilmembers and staff thanked Kindring and noted the proclamation is intended to highlight early support and community inclusion for children and families with disabilities.
