At a meeting of the Natchitoches Planning & Zoning Commission, staff and commissioners agreed the short-term rental approval for 119 Sydney Street needs further action after the Historic District Commission granted only one off-street parking space, rather than the two spaces required by the planning commissions prior condition.
The commissions historic-condition approval had been a condition of an earlier short-term rental approval; staff reported HDC approved only one parking space, and the applicants filed materials did not request a variance. Commissioners said the matter likely needs to be re-noticed and the applicant should file a variance request for reduced parking so the public can comment.
The commission discussed neighborhood on-street parking patterns and said public input would be appropriate before any change to the prior condition. No formal vote was taken to change the earlier approval; staff said they would contact the applicant and his realtor and would arrange a follow-up meeting or re-notice as appropriate.
