Dolton leaders host business gathering to connect entrepreneurs with new mayoral administration

Dolton — Village leaders and local business owners gathered at the Medley Medley Fitness Center in Dawson to discuss steps the mayor’s administration is taking to support small businesses and to provide information on licensing and networking opportunities.
A staff member said the meeting was intended to align businesses with priorities of the new mayoral administration and to open channels for conversation between entrepreneurs and village officials. The staff member added that at least one additional business representative was expected to join the event.
“Hi. I’m Alexis Rucker. I’m the CEO and president of A and D Worker Management,” Alexis Rucker said, and called the meeting “very informative.” Rucker said she looked forward to connecting with other local businesses and “just flourish[ing] Dolton.”
A different speaker urged business owners to use village resources to obtain required permits and licenses. “We always will work with you to get things straight, so you can make sure you get your licenses, get whatever it is you need from us,” the speaker said.
The event was described by a speaker as led by Trustee Kiana Belcher and supported by Mayor Jason House; participants emphasized networking, information-sharing and local economic growth. No motions, votes or formal policy decisions were recorded during the gathering.
Organizers and attendees framed the meeting as a community-building session rather than a legislative or regulatory hearing; next steps noted in remarks were informal follow-ups and offers from staff to help businesses with licensing and information requests.
