Hamilton County’s new county attorney, Attorney Varnell, introduced members of her legal team to the commission during the July 2025 meeting and said they will begin work in county offices this month.
Varnell told commissioners that Deputy County Attorney Tim Clark had attended the prior week and would start officially next Monday; she introduced Paige Evitt, a staff attorney with experience at Legal Aid of East Tennessee; Heather Elmore, described as legal administrative services manager (office manager); and Zach Yanez, a former city assistant attorney with litigation experience. Varnell said the group had completed office moves and would occupy temporary offices in the McDaniel Building.
Chairman Eversall welcomed the new staff. Varnell described Evitt as a litigator who chaired a pro bono department at Legal Aid of East Tennessee and said Yanez had experience in complex federal litigation; she described Elmore as the office manager. The introductions were informational; no commission action or vote was associated with the presentation.
