County accepts Sir Lines A Lot low bid for countywide pavement marking, $109,606

Clay County accepted a low bid from Sir Lines A Lot LLC on July 1 for the countywide pavement marking contract (CP014-3002), awarding the work at $109,606.19. County staff said five vendors submitted bids and the low price was well below the engineer's estimate of $292,212.46, a difference the presenter attributed in part to county funding (which avoids some prevailing-wage requirements) and market conditions.
The contract covers striping on every paved county road, including center and edge lines, crosswalks and railroad-crossing markings. Staff said the bid package was based on linear feet of striping and a county plan; the county will coordinate striping with seal-coating work in future years and may quadrant the county for ongoing maintenance cycles.
Commissioner Baer moved to accept the Sir Lines A Lot bid; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Staff noted the county will monitor paint longevity and expects to stripe on a 2–4 year cycle depending on material performance.
