Glendale's city attorney reported to the Common Council that he attended oral argument in two court cases challenging the placement of offenders on Silver Spring Drive in Milwaukee and said the judge will issue a ruling after reviewing the filings.
The city attorney said a central legal issue presented at argument was whether the city had standing and that opposing counsel argued the county's representation of placement decisions was sufficient. The city attorney described using a map prepared by the city's engineer, Mr. Amir, to show restricted areas within a 1,500-foot radius of the property at issue and said that line of argument "seemed to be getting through to the judge." He characterized the oral argument as going "as well as we could expect" and said he was "cautiously optimistic" while noting the judge would take time to review the documents and schedule a written ruling.
The attorney said he would update the council when the court issues additional information. No action or vote was taken by the council on the litigation update.
