Beaver County adopts resolution to join America250 Utah partnership

The Beaver County Commission on July 1 adopted Resolution 2025-11 to recognize a local "Beaver County, Utah 250" community committee and to partner with the statewide America250 Utah Commission as part of the nation's 250th-anniversary observance.

Commissioner Pearson introduced the item and invited city representatives to discuss local participation. The resolution, as read into the record, recognizes the state-established America250 Utah Commission and authorizes formation of a local Beaver County 250 community committee to coordinate events, support signature programs by the state commission, and submit project proposals for available funding.

Presenters told commissioners the state launch was occurring the same day at the Capitol and that the program encourages counties and municipalities to form local committees and submit project IDs to access limited state funding. The state program was described as first-come, first-served for available grants; presenters and commissioners discussed using funding to enhance existing local events such as fireworks, floats, banners and promotional materials.

The commission approved the resolution by voice vote; the meeting record shows the resolution was entered as Resolution 2025-11. After the vote, one commissioner said they preferred to finalize volunteer lists and clean up language before signing the document. Commissioners and city representatives discussed forming a volunteer committee, involving elected officials and local volunteers, and potential projects including a potluck and promotional activities across Beaver County.

Speakers said local projects would need a project ID submitted to the state to document how funds would be used. The presenters advised that state funding might be exhausted if the county waited until early 2026 to submit project proposals. Commissioners encouraged outreach to schools and the community to increase awareness of the 250th events.
