Cobb County Planning Commissioners on July 1 approved a 12-month temporary land-use permit (LEP 27) allowing one additional unrelated adult to live at a Tim Rose Road single-family residence near Kennesaw State University.
Applicant Hung Nguyen said his son and daughter-in-law live at the house and that two of the son’s friends (both prospective tenants and university students) planned to rent a room; the commission limited approval to the identified occupants for a 12-month term so staff can monitor compliance. Commissioners emphasized the county’s ability to schedule a show-cause hearing and withdraw the temporary permit if occupants violate conditions.
Planning staff said a single-family dwelling may, under the code, house a family plus one unrelated adult without a permit; this application requested a temporary permit for one additional unrelated person beyond that allowance. The property owner said the intended tenants are university students and that the rental term would generally follow the academic year. The commission approved the 12-month permit with the requirement that the applicant provide the names of the tenants to code enforcement and that the county’s parking/right-of-way restrictions be observed.
