Board approves consent agenda items including multiple in-kind grants and programming donations

At the July 1 meeting the Metro Board of Parks and Recreation approved a consent agenda covering several small grants, donations and event requests.
Items approved included: acceptance of an in-kind grant from Watkins College of Art at Belmont University not to exceed $20,000 to commission a mural on the Easley Community Center rear exterior wall; Friends of Beaman Park acceptance of in-kind materials valued at $572.42 for Proctor Barn stabilization; Friends of Shelby Park and Bottoms acceptance of in-kind equipment valued at $4,400 for the Shelby Community Center; and Friends of Metro Dance acceptance of a $2,000 general donation to Cultural Arts.
The board also approved a request from Friends of Metro Animal Care and Control (MACC) to host a "pickle paw" tournament at Centennial Sportsplex with a waiver of court fees to raise funds for MACC. Director Odom said staff recommended approval for these items.
Additionally, staff requested acceptance of a $50,000 cash grant from the Nashville Parks Foundation for programming improvements to Metro Nashville community centers; staff recommended approval and the board approved the motion. Director Odom said there was no required Metro match or other obligations associated with these donations.
Each motion was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote. No items on the consent agenda were pulled for separate discussion at the meeting.
