Jackson County recorder reports $588,698 in fees for fiscal year 2025, board accepts report

"The county fees that we retain total $162,784.46, which is an increase of $9,391.86 from last fiscal year," said Arlene, the county recorder, presenting the report. She said the state portion remitted to state departments was $425,913.75, for a combined total of $588,698.21, an increase of $96,728.59 from the previous fiscal year.
Arlene told the board the retained amounts reflect current charges for vitals, DNR and recording fees and that there were no fee increases this year. She also updated the board on a recorder modernization bill she said had passed the House and remained in the Senate; she said Recorder School had recommended no further amendments in the hope the Senate would pass it when it reconvenes.
Board members moved to approve the recorder’s fiscal year-end 2025 report as presented. The motion passed by voice vote.
The board later also authorized the chair and auditor to sign the county recorder’s reported fees collected for the month of June 2025 in the amount of $58,577.03, placing those receipts on file.
Arlene said she also provided a running total of office receipts for the board’s review. The meeting record does not include further details on the contents of the recorder modernization bill beyond the presenter’s summary.
