Members of the Grundy County Land Use Committee voted to rescind petition 25ZBA010, a proposed text amendment concerning battery energy storage systems, during a committee meeting.
Mary Lynn, Land Use staff, told the committee that “staff is recommending that we rescind the text amendment” and clarified the action is not a table but a rescission: “we are not tabling it, we are rescinding it, so we are, it will not go forward and it will not come back unless we reintroduce it through Zoning Board of Appeals.”
Committee member Eric moved to rescind the petition; committee member James K seconded the motion. The committee voiced aye and the motion carried. As Mary Lynn put it, “the petition basically dies, it'll be closed out.”
By rescinding the petition, the committee removed the proposed text amendment from further consideration; committee members said the only way the change could be considered again would be to reintroduce it through the Zoning Board of Appeals. The meeting record contains no substantive debate or amendments to the petition before the rescission vote.
The committee proceeded with other departmental business after the vote, taking no further action on the battery energy storage text amendment at that meeting.
