Stephanie McGinnis, division of water resources, briefed the Sevier Watershed Council on the Division’s timeline and outreach for the next Utah State Water Plan and asked watershed council members to help gather basin-level information.
McGinnis said the Legislature’s House Bill 280 (2024) requires the state water plan be updated at least every 10 years and that the Division has an internal goal to update the plan roughly every five years. “I think we could pretty safely just cut and paste this right into the the next plan,” she said, referring to language the Division intends to reuse describing the plan’s purposes.
The council was asked to complete a short online survey—estimated at 10 to 20 minutes—and return responses by July 10 to inform basin chapters. McGinnis said each basin will receive a two- to three-page “basin and perspective” summary in the final…
