The Village of Tinley Park board proclaimed Aug. 5, 2025 as National Night Out and staff described the event details, including location, time and participating public safety agencies.
The Village of Tinley Park Board of Trustees voted on July 1 to proclaim Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025, as National Night Out in Tinley Park, designating a community event at Freedom Park from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The proclamation notes National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and is intended to promote cooperative police–community crime‑prevention efforts. The board’s resolution recognized the village’s participation and encouraged citizen awareness of crime prevention programs.
Dina Navas, who coordinates the village’s National Night Out event, told the board the Aug. 5 gathering at Freedom Park (just east of the library off 80th Avenue) will include displays and vehicles from the Tinley Park Police Department, Emergency Management, fire department, public works and other outside agencies. “It’s a great opportunity to see public service agencies,” she said. Navas said she has coordinated the event for 19 years.
Trustees thanked Navas for her longstanding work on the program and noted the event’s family‑friendly focus. The board approved the proclamation by roll call; the motion carried.
