The Common Council on July 1 approved a request to eliminate the Wisconsin Department of Transportation’s 50‑foot setback along a 118‑foot segment of DOT right of way in the Old Highlander subdivision to permit a future extension of Regent Road.
City engineer/administrator Matt Frey (presenting the item) described the matter as a “cleanup” to allow the street extension. He emphasized that existing city building setbacks remain in place; the request removes only the DOT setback requirement that would have prevented construction of the street extension in a narrow area where the city anticipates a future right‑of‑way connection.
The item was approved on a council roll call with ayes recorded for Aldermen Spiegelberg, Mulder, Shellpepper, McConnell, Rosick, Altman Kloth and Ellis.
