Councilor Lockhart asked the Laramie City Council on July 1 to schedule a work session on the city's surface-water drainage program and an upcoming sewage/drainage water fee so that councilors — particularly newer members — can review background materials and ask questions.
Lockhart said the topic is generating constituent interest and described receiving many calls and requests for information. "I think we should have a work session...so we can all educate ourselves," she said, requesting participation by all nine councilors and city staff.
City staff and the mayor confirmed existing materials are available online, including a Surface Water Drainage page with meeting history, studies and focus-group materials. Assistant city staff said they would compile a packet of information and work with the city engineer to add links and background documents on the city web page to aid council review before the work session.
Councilors discussed placing the meeting on the calendar; staff said they would prepare materials and ensure links are accessible to council members and the public.
