The Rosemount City Council on July 1 adopted a resolution approving the vacation of a portion of an existing drainage easement at 2201‑20 Sixth Street West, granting the request by a 5-0 vote.
City planning staff, represented by Mr. Keanberger, explained the request followed a building‑permit submittal for a detached garage. Staff said a review found a discrepancy between the recorded plat and a newer survey of the site; a wetland delineation performed for the applicant shifted the boundary where drainage easement was required and showed the proposed garage would fall outside the updated easement area. "Staff agreed that that easement on their property is no longer needed to maintain that boundary," Keanberger said.
The item was presented as a public hearing; no members of the public spoke. Councilmember Esler moved to adopt the resolution approving the easement vacation; Councilmember Klimpel seconded. The motion passed on a 5-0 roll call.
The council's approval allows the applicant to proceed with their building permit application for the detached garage at the address cited, subject to any remaining permit conditions and building-code requirements.
