Rockville Centre Board elects officers, administers oaths and appoints audit committee

At its July 1, 2025 reorganizational meeting the Rockville Centre Board of Education elected Kelli Barry president, Donna Downing vice president, and appointed district officers; the board also voted to serve as its audit committee.
Kelli Barry was elected president of the Rockville Centre Union Free School District Board of Education at the board's July 1, 2025 reorganizational meeting and immediately recited the oath of office.
The board nominated and voted unanimously to elect Donna Downing as vice president and Janet Gruner as secretary; each was sworn in. The board also sworn in Matthew Gavin as superintendent of schools and appointed Mary Lou Salabirdi as district clerk, Miss Rinaldi as treasurer and Jacqueline Rehak as deputy treasurer for the 2025–26 school year.
Board members took a motion to appoint the Board of Education to serve as the district's audit committee for the 2025–26 school year; that motion carried by voice vote and the members recited the audit committee oath. The board moved to approve the remainder of the agenda items (items E1 through H12) by voice vote and then adjourned the reorganizational meeting and proceeded into the public session.
The oaths administered at the meeting invoked support for the constitutions of the United States and the State of New York, consistent with the standard oath language used for district officials. Most personnel and officer appointments were handled by nomination and unanimous voice vote; no roll-call tallies or recorded dissent were announced on the record.
