Hauppauge Board elects vice president, designates district clerk and creates regionalization committee during reorganization

The Hauppauge Union Free School District Board of Education elected Mr. Scritto as vice president and completed other standard reorganizational actions during its July 1, 2025 virtual meeting.

The board voted 4–0 with one abstention to elect Mr. Scritto as vice president; the transcript records that Mr. Scritto abstained. The board then moved to designate Paula, district clerk, for the 2025–26 school year; that designation passed 5–0. The district clerk administered the oath of office to the superintendent, Dr. Murphy, Superintendent of Schools, and to the district clerk.

Those reorganizational items were carried as part of the meeting’s business. The board approved the reorganizational consent agenda as presented after removing one line item—agenda item 26A(4), a purchase—which was later tabled to the next meeting by a 5–0 vote. The chair asked that item 26A(4) be placed on the next meeting agenda as a standalone item rather than returned to the consent agenda.

The board also announced the creation of an ad hoc Regionalization Committee to serve the same purposes as it did the prior year and appointed Ms. Michaels as chair. The superintendent indicated he and a colleague would again form the committee and asked the clerk to advise community member Jenna Salvia of her appointment to the panel. The board also welcomed two student ex officio members, Hannah Hartman and Olalakin Ogunn Shaqen, on a recommendation forwarded to the board.

The reorganizational portion of the meeting focused on officer elections, administrative designations, and committee assignments; no policy changes or program adoptions were enacted at this time.
