The Cook County Board of Commissioners on June 24 approved a bid for fencing at the Hovland Transfer Station and an addendum to the county’s master contract with Sawtooth Mountain Clinic to provide supervisory redundancy for mental-health services.
Administrator remarks described the transfer-station fencing as coming in roughly $15,000 under estimate. The approved fence will include privacy slats and is intended to secure the site and reduce visual impacts for neighbors. Commissioner motion and voice vote approved the bid.
County staff also presented an addendum to the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic master contract to add supervisory redundancy for public-health mental-health supervision; the board approved the addendum by voice vote. The addendum updates amounts and clarifies service redundancy under the master contract for services such as WIC and other public-health programs.
Administrators gave several project updates: courthouse basement renovation work is advancing and staff expect to move some operations to the renovated basement in July; the Grand Marais transfer-station excavation continues with on-site material sorting to reduce hauling and save project costs; and the Hovland Transfer Station work is progressing toward installation of precast panels in July–August. The county indicated it has set aside funds for capital projects and that further budget discussions are forthcoming.
