Commission reinstates Dr. Leif Washer’s license; requests current CPR before clinical duties

Debbie Brown of the Department of Public Health presented Dr. Leif Washer’s application for reinstatement of a lapsed license and said the department had received his packet prior to the meeting. Dr. Washer told the commission he was a retired dentist who had been invited to return as paid faculty for periodontal instruction that would include both didactic and clinic time and that he had previously served as paid faculty.
Commissioners asked about current continuing education and life‑support credentials. Dr. Washer said he has completed recent continuing education hours and that his CPR certification was expired, but he could update it quickly; he said the hiring academic institution would provide credentialing where required. The chair indicated no objection to reinstatement provided Dr. Washer obtain current CPR/BLS credentials before resuming clinical supervision.
The commission voted to accept Dr. Washer’s reinstatement application; commissioners asked him to secure up‑to‑date CPR within a few months and to comply with the academic employer’s credentialing requirements.
