Environmental Resources Committee recommends approval of two rezoning petitions

The Marathon County Environmental Resources Committee on July 1 recommended approval of two separate rezoning petitions — one by Steven Guiley (lot west of Camp Road and Jones Valley Road in the Town of Gunther) and one by David Fulkowski on behalf of Adding Acres LLC (near 1 Mile Road and Drake Avenue in the Town of McMillan) — and forwarded both to the County Board.
CPZ staff presented both petitions and recommended approval, saying each request met Marathon County Chapter 17 zoning standards for size, frontage, access and dimensions and was consistent with the respective town comprehensive plans. The Town of Gunther recommended approval on May 12, 2025; the Town of McMillan recommended approval on June 9, 2025. Legal notices were published and adjacent property owners were mailed notice within 300 feet.
For the Guiley petition, Supervisor Eubank moved approval “based on the findings of facts as presented by staff and conclusions of law and also the town's approval.” The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. For the Adding Acres LLC petition, Supervisor Kroll moved approval based on staff findings and town recommendation; the motion was seconded and carried.
Staff advised that, should the County Board approve the rezones, CPZ staff recommend the affected towns update their comprehensive plans as applicable to reflect the zoning changes. The committee closed each hearing after finding no members of the public wished to testify in favor, opposed or as interested parties during the hearings.
