LEPC updates: Homeland Security, BLM and wildfire mitigation grants; new mitigation staff hired

He reported active projects funded by forest action plan grants in Marshall Canyon and Patty Canyon and Community Wildfire Defense Grant (CWDG) projects planned or underway in Patty Canyon, Grant Creek, Big Flat, Ovando/Evaro, Potomac, Seeley Lake and Condon, along with chip‑seal days and community education events.
LaRoche said the Bureau of Land Management grant provides $75,000 per year for five years to support fuels reduction outreach and cost‑share work; current projects include work in Evaro and a potential Deer Creek project. Officials noted the Bridal grant projects are proceeding cautiously amid an uncertain political environment but have not been canceled.
Randy Ocon, Missoula OEM, summarized a CPR grant that funded the PulsePoint notification system and a pro responder version; the grant closes in September and multiple CPR events are planned for summer.
