City recognizes staff professional achievements: Six Sigma black belt and Texas professional engineering license

City Council presented recognitions to two municipal employees for professional credentials earned this year.

Gabe Mata, process improvement analyst for the city, was recognized for earning a Six Sigma Black Belt certification; the mayor summarized Six Sigma as a methodology to reduce defects, minimize variation and improve process quality and called the black belt a prestigious certification.

Dina Pedrosa of Engineering Services received recognition for earning a Professional Engineer license in the state of Texas. The mayor said the license requires passing three exams and holding at least four years of experience; Pedrosa’s accomplishment was presented as a contribution to city engineering capacity and public safety.

Both recognitions were ceremonial; no personnel actions or promotion language was recorded in the transcript.
