Green Local Schools board approves $89 million in permanent appropriations, contracts and routine payments

The board approved the permanent appropriations by roll call vote. The board also approved temporary appropriations for fiscal year 2026 in the amount of $22,266,246.11; district staff explained Ohio law requires districts to adopt temporary appropriations so they can legally spend prior to adopting permanent appropriations in October and that the maximum temporary appropriation is 25% of the prior year’s final appropriations.
Separately, the board approved an invoice from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office for traffic duty at Green High School totaling $21,135.69, to be paid from the district’s safety and security levy. Board members who spoke in favor said the deputies’ traffic direction at the high school has improved safety and traffic flow during arrival and dismissal.
Under the consent calendar the board approved several routine personnel and operational items: an anonymous $6,000 donation to the athletic department (the board said the donor specified the money be used for a new inflatable bulldog), a three-year contract with PSI for nursing services paid from the safety and security levy, and a three-year renewal of NWEA MAP Growth for K–8 assessment at a total cost of $110,560 paid from the permanent improvement fund. Board members noted the district uses NWEA MAP Growth for multiple purposes, including gifted identification and classroom-level academic information.
All motions on the items described above carried by unanimous recorded votes (roll calls in the meeting transcript show all present board members voting yes on each item). The meeting record does not show individual motion makers’ names for every vote; motions were made and seconded and approved by roll call.
The board also discussed a policy correction related to open enrollment language; staff said the policy will receive a first reading at the next board meeting after clarifying wording raised by a community member. The board did not adopt policy language at this meeting.
