District shifts to ParentSquare, introduces new kindergarten teacher and approves food-service and athletics updates

The Bellbrook-Sugarcreek Local Board of Education on June 30 heard a staff update about the district's planned migration from Remind to ParentSquare, approved a contract amendment to include a per-meal figure for the Sodexo food-service agreement, updated athletic parent-expectation language and confirmed multiple personnel actions including the hiring of kindergarten teacher Emily Tinch.

ParentSquare: Henry Conte, the district's parent and community engagement coordinator, told the board the district's Remind accounts will be replaced by ParentSquare and that families should have received invite emails. Conte said some students are temporarily assigned to the wrong building in the system until an end-of-July roll-up; kindergarten and new-student records may not appear until mid-July. He also said ParentSquare changed its account-merge feature to a switch-account function; parents and staff with accounts in multiple districts should contact him for help.

Contract and policies: The board approved a modification (to motion number 2593 from June 12, 2025) to add omitted per-meal reimbursement language to the Sodexo food-service agreement for the 2025-26 school year. Board members also approved an update to the athletic department's excellence and sportsmanship parent expectations that adds consequences for parental conduct at events. Several draft policy changes were presented for first reading, including clarifications on release time for religious instruction and additional nondiscrimination language in food-service policy; those items were scheduled for a second read on July 17.

Staffing and introductions: The consent agenda, approved unanimously by the three board members present, included multiple certificated hires. The board introduced Emily Tinch as the district's incoming kindergarten teacher; Keaton said Tinch had been the district's student teacher (Emily Corbett) from Wright State University and was filling an in-house transfer vacancy.

Votes and procedure: The Sodexo amendment, the athletic expectations update and the consent-hiring agenda were each moved and seconded and passed on roll call with Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Dawn and Mr. Kinsey voting yes.

Ending: Conte said the district will publish website and social-media guidance on ParentSquare and asked families with missing invitations to contact him; the board scheduled second readings for draft policies before formal adoption.
