Yorba Group for $59,260; Genesee Street/Genesee Theater corrections and engineering to Sea Orbrook Group for $30,000; Glenrock Avenue culvert replacement design and construction engineering to CIorber Group for $120,176.60; Greenwood Avenue reconstruction design and construction engineering to Baxter & Woodman for $230,965 and a related $1,340,000 appropriation with IDOT; and a partial 2024–25 road program construction award to Peter Baker & Son for $2,198,461.58.
Alderman Newsom moved to approve the consent agenda and Alderman Turner seconded the motion. The roll call showed all members present voting “aye”: Aldermen Guzman, Martinez, Felix, Newsom, Turner, Donaldworth, Florian and Bolton. The motion passed.
During consideration of the consent package Alderman Turner asked for detail on items f and h, which staff explained were the city’s nonreimbursable cost shares for a federally funded package along Glen Flora Avenue and for resurfacing Sheridan Road between Washington Street and the south terminus, south of Liberty Avenue. A separate question about items p and q prompted staffer Juan to explain the supplemental appropriations: they recognize funding for projects that took place in prior fiscal years and allocate those amounts into the current accounting ledgers for fiscal 2024–25 and the prior fiscal period.
City staff read aloud each consent item before the council voted. No council member requested that an item be pulled for separate consideration. The council’s approval authorizes staff to execute the contracts and to adjust budget ledgers to reflect the Rebuild Illinois and related federal and IDOT funds shown in the adopted resolutions and ordinances.
The consent agenda contained more than a dozen project appropriations spanning design and construction engineering services, resurfacing agreements with IDOT, culvert replacements, sidewalk program segments, and a partial construction award for the city’s fiscal 2024–25 road program. The resolutions and budget ordinances approved on the consent agenda establish the city’s authority to spend the identified grant and matching funds on the listed projects; staff will return to the usual procurement and contract-administration processes for implementation.
