DuPage County committee approves multiple maintenance contracts, extends AP Grease Trappers agreement

The DuPage County Public Works Committee on July 1 approved a slate of procurement actions for facilities and public-works operations and approved a time-limited extension and a change order for the county’s grease-trap services contract while staff rebid that work.

Among the contracts approved were a semiannual kitchen duct, hood and fan cleaning contract with Airway Systems for a total not to exceed $37,525; an employee uniform supply contract with Galls Parrot Holding not to exceed $30,000 for one year; a renewal with Mid America Water (contract period June 26, 2025–June 25, 2026) not to exceed $62,500; and a preventive maintenance, testing and repair renewal with Fox Valley Fire and Safety Company for fire-alarm and life-safety systems not to exceed $117,250 for Aug. 28, 2025–Aug. 27, 2026. The committee also approved a sole-source contract to Revere Electric Supply Company for Rockwell Automation hardware and software support for stormwater management for a period through May 28, 2028, not to exceed $72,090.

The committee considered an amendment to extend contract 21-017-FM issued to AP Grease Trappers for sanitary grease-trap and storm-basin pumping, jetting and cleaning. The extension moves the contract expiration from June 12, 2025, to Aug. 31, 2025, to allow continued service while procurement rebids the work. Committee members discussed that the extension followed a prior rescission of a bid award; a facilities-management staff member said procurement identified a problem with a prior bid, requiring rebidding. "So this is the continuation…we were gonna award it. We found procurement helping us out. They found a problem with the bid," the staff member said.

The committee also approved a change order to increase the AP Grease Trappers purchase order by $15,000. The meeting record stated an amended contract amount (spoken in the meeting as approximately "$102,750") and described the increase as about 17 percent. The transcript of the meeting contains inconsistent numeric phrasing for the final amended dollar amount; the increase amount and the percentage were stated on the record but the exact final total as read aloud is unclear in the transcript.

Chair Childress moved the procurement approvals and the extension and change-order items; each motion carried after affirmation by the committee. Committee members said the extension was necessary because the county must have a contractor performing grease-trap and basin maintenance while the rebid proceeds. No external approvals or statutes were cited during the discussion.

The approvals cover multiple county facilities, including the JTK Administration Building, the jail and the case care center, and continue routine maintenance services essential to operations while procurement completes the rebid process.
