DuPage County staff described the county’s new 24-hour, seven-day-a-week 211 information-and-referral system and an online dashboard that lets municipal partners and residents see needs by ZIP code or community.
Mary, a county staff presenter, said the county launched the 24/7 211 system in late 2023 and that the 211dupage.gov dashboard shows caller volumes and the services requested. "We know that housing is probably the—well, it is the highest, the highest request across the board regardless of what municipality they're calling from," Mary said.
Mary showed the advisory group a dashboard view of the previous year’s 211 calls and encouraged municipal partners to use the tool and distribute printed handouts the county provided. She noted the dashboard allows users to drill down by ZIP code or by municipality to see local demand and that needs vary by place — at a recent mayors-and-managers meeting, staff heard that utility bills were a top issue in Glendale Heights.
The presenter said 211 can be used for stopgap emergency assistance such as one-time help to avoid utility shutoffs and that county staff will supply more printed materials to municipal partners on request. Committee members were asked to take handouts and share them with municipal partners and residents.
Mary closed by asking committee members to take the materials and noting the advisory group’s next meeting date.
