The Capital Improvement and Planning Committee (CIPC) nominated Steve Holland on June 30, 2025, to serve as its representative to the Neary Building Committee, the group convened to evaluate options for a pre‑K through eighth‑grade school project. The committee voted unanimously to forward the nomination to the Select Board, which must confirm the appointment.
The nomination matters because the Neary Building Committee will use new survey data and other analyses to recommend short‑ and long‑term options for the school project. The Select Board is the appointing authority and can accept or reject CIPC’s recommendation; the current appointment would last only until August, when the committee intends to reassess membership and work plans.
Jason, chairing the meeting, moved the nomination and the motion was seconded. The CIPC recorded a unanimous roll‑call vote in favor (Tony: aye; Steve Holland: aye; Mike: aye; Jason: aye). The motion was made “subject to appointment by the Select Board,” reflecting that the Select Board has final authority to appoint the representative.
The committee also welcomed a recently appointed member, Mike, who introduced himself and said he has lived in town for three years and works in the pharmaceutical industry. Mike said he is eager to get involved and that he has volunteer and committee experience from earlier service.
Committee members noted the Neary assignment may require a larger time commitment than typical CIPC work. Jason asked the appointee to provide regular updates to the capital committee and to request a quorum post when larger meetings merit CIPC participation. Steve said he will notify the CIPC of developments if the Select Board confirms his appointment.
No other formal actions were taken regarding the Neary process at the June 30 meeting.
