County pursues warranty repairs after inspection finds installation issues on courthouse roof

Wichita County officials said on July 1 that they are pursuing warranty repairs after an inspection of the law enforcement center roof with a representative from Carlisle, the manufacturer of the TPO roof membrane.
County maintenance staff and a Carlisle representative walked the roof last week and found areas the county believes were not installed to specification. Maintenance staff described metal discs or washers beneath the membrane where fasteners secure decking to the insulation and said some fasteners appeared to compress the insulation and create deeper depressions than typical. County officials asked Carlisle to review photos and installation documents and said Carlisle indicated it would process a warranty work order for some issues shown in earlier photos.
Commissioners and staff said Carlisle’s warranty covers the membrane and proper installation; county staff will continue to gather installation records and follow up on areas Carlisle flagged for repair. County maintenance reported a new interior leak above the jailer’s mailboxes on the north hallway the morning of July 1.
County staff said they will work with Carlisle and the installer to determine scope and responsibility for repairs. Commissioners requested additional document review and follow-up inspections; no specific repair schedule or cost estimate was provided at the meeting.
