El Segundo forms Major Events Ad Hoc Committee to plan Olympic and sport‑event activations

The presentation highlighted examples from Paris 2024 and other US cities that hosted hospitality houses and cultural activations.
Council approved committee membership and direction. Appointed members (as read into the record) include Councilmember Michelle Kjelldorf, Community Development Director Michael Allen (or designee), Planning Commissioner Melissa McCafferty, Parks Commissioner Kelly Watson, Arts & Culture advisory member Michael Sheps, Chamber representative Marsha Hansen and community member Tessy Rasmussen. The council authorized staff to initiate outreach and begin facility negotiations with visiting teams or countries if appropriate.
